Team India, after defeating Pakistan in the Asia Cup final, did not accept the trophy from ACC chief Mohsin Naqvi. Mohsin Naqvi stood on the podium, but the Indian captain and players kept their distance. 

Naqvi waited for a long time before leaving the stage, followed by ACC officials carrying the trophy. Now, according to news agency PTI, the trophy has been taken to the ACC headquarters, which is located near the International Cricket Council (ICC) headquarters in Dubai. 

India’s Victory, Trophy Ceremony Chaos

India won the match and the tournament in the final over. The prize-giving ceremony took over an hour to begin because India refused to take the stage in Naqvi's presence, and the ACC chief, who also heads the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) and holds several ministries in Pakistan, refused to allow anyone else to present the trophy.

'No handshake policy'

India's stance was clear, and the Board of Control for Cricket in India supported it. Naqvi is infamous in India for his anti-India remarks and mocking the nation in the context of the Pahalgam terror attack and Operation Sindoor. India also followed a "no handshake policy" with Pakistan throughout. It is currently unclear whether the ACC will present the trophy to the Indian team. 

What did Suryakumar say? 

Indian captain Suryakumar said after the incident, "I think ever since I started playing and following cricket, I've never seen a champion team be denied a trophy. I mean, a trophy that was earned with hard work. It's not like it came easy. It was a tournament win that was earned with hard work."
